Machinery Moves and Rigging
Structural moving occasionally requires the use of rigging. Several reasons why rigging might be
used are: the construction of the structure is extremely fragile, the location of the structure (old or new), or
the nature of the move. For example, the Apollo Space Capsule had to be lowered through the roof of the Museum of
Science and Industry in Chicago, Illinois. A few of the steel truss bridges and railroad switching towers we've moved included rigging as
part of the project.
Machinery requires special handling, and is moved for many reasons including factory relocation,
replacement of old machinery, and plant additions. Though much of the machinery shown doesn't seem to be large, the
technology inside renders them rather heavy. Shown below are some of rigging and machinery move projects.
